Well I finally got to make this shawl with JoAnn's Sensation's Rainbow Boucle.
This is the fisrt time I used a boucle yarn. The first few rows was a bit diffcult, using this yarn. Then it was fine. I love the way the yarn shades!
I made this one for my cousin.

I don't normally use boucle yarn either, but I like how it stripes and this pattern takes full advantage of that. Your shawl is beautiful. I had the same issues with the first few rows and found it got easier after awhile, too.
